Paul Boccone owned Chantilly Specialists, a pain management clinic in Chantilly Va.  Indicted on 28 criminal counts for activities occurring over a six-year period from 2005 until 2011, he was convicted in August, 2012 of conspiracy to distribute and distributing oxycodone, health care fraud and payroll tax evasion. This, again, is an example of the government going after the money. As usual, the press stressed the sensationalism. For example, mentioning that 4 out of hundreds of patients treated at this clinic had died.  Well, that’s really not a bad percentage considering. In fact, it is a pretty good percentage and does not reflect bad management.

Paul Boccone was convicted of conspiracy to distribute and distributing oxycodone, health care fraud and payroll tax evasion. This, again, is an example of the government going after the money.

The press stressed the sensationalism.

The press indicated that Mr. Boccone passed himself off as a physician, with titles of articles like: Fake doctor gets 15 years for dealing oxycodone. According to the article, Mr. Boccone “hired medical professionals with no background in pain management to endorse prescriptions for the pain killers to addicts.” He was sentenced November 9, 2012 to 180 months (15 years) in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for “turning his Chantilly-based pain clinic into a haven for drug addicts, servicing thousands of customers traveling hundreds of miles to illegally obtain large amounts of oxycodone and other prescription pain medicine.”

Problems with the case as publicized.

  1. Going after the owner of the clinic shows again, that the government is primarily interested in gleaning the financial benefit of forfeiture of property. This shows that the primary concern of the government is grabbing property and using the CSA as the ticket to do so.
  2. Stating that Mr. Boccone passed himself off as a physician in the clinic, making him susceptible to the CSA. Problems with this are:
    1. There was a doctor in the clinic—Joel W. Match, MD. Mr. Boccone didn’t have to pass himself off as one.
    2. There was a nurse practitioner in the clinic. All nurse practitioners have to be registered under the supervision of a physician to practice in Virginia. So again, Mr. Boccone could not have been registered as such.
    3. A person working in a medical clinic doesn’t wear a big sign stating their purpose. Patients often assume someone is a physician simply because they have authority in the clinic. Also, nurse practitioners are often called “Doctor” by patients. That is because there is no short title for them. The nurse practitioners in my office had to go by their first names, which is very unprofessional for them. If a patient said “Dr. ___”, then it would be the responsibility of the provider to correct them. Sometimes that just isn’t done for time’s sake. But it doesn’t mean that the provider is committing an illegal act.
  3. The prosecution stated that Mr. Boccone forged scripts. Why would he have to do that? He had a doctor on the premises. I believe that is just propaganda put forth by the prosecution without hard evidence. And any testimony by other office help was probably perjured under threat of prosecution.

Addendum 2021:

Although not scheduled for release until August, 2025, Mr. Boccone is currently at a halfway house in Orlando.  Anyone in communication with him, please tell him to work on forgiveness and when he is ready, join us in the effort to restore humanity to the nation.

Addendum from the author:

I have failed in my mission to end these attacks on doctors and pain patients. Through John Bevere’s book The Bait of Satan, I have figured out why—my lack of forgiveness to those who attacked me. As in Mark 11: 24-26:

“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespassed. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.”

And when you do not do the will of the Father, you are estranged from him and he will ignore you.  So we all must forgive the agents who attacked us in order for things to be made right through any of our works.

Jesus said

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

But we cannot lay down our lives for God unless we know Him well enough to trust Him. We must have the assurance that He would never do anything to harm us. He always looks out for what He knows is in our best interest. As a nation, those of us suffering from these attacks must understand that we are serving as God’s messengers of love.  We must forgive those who persecute us and love them instead, following God’s will for us. Then and only then will we see fruits from our labor.

So I hope that everyone who has suffered from what happened to Dr. Boccone can trust the Lord, forgive those who have hurt you, and help bring this country back to the God-fearing country that our forefathers founded. Then, and only then, can you be a part of the effort to stop these attacks. I look forward to that day.
