“Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act of 2015”

Introduced to the Senate on 5-21-15 by Joe Manchin, this identical bill to HR 4697 was referred to the Finance committee. Cosponsors are Angus King [I-ME], Shelley Capito [R-WV], Claire McCaskill [D-MO], Jeanne Shaheen [D-NH], Dianne Feinstein [D-CA], and Tom Cotton [R-AR].

For an evaluation of S. 1431, look at H.R.4697 Worst Bill So Far. They are word for word the same. Since it has been a year since S.1431 was introduced, it might not be alive anymore. I’m not sure how the Congress works, if Bills die when sessions end. If anyone that knows the procedure can send me a comment, I’ll update the post with that information.  But what we have to be wary of is that S. 1431 could get passed and then H.R.4697 could get rushed through and this horrible monster become law.

So when you call your legislators, be sure and tell them “NO” to S.1431 as well as H.R4697.

“Stopping Medication Abuse and Protecting Seniors Act of 2015”

Purpose: To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to establish programs to prevent prescription drug abuse under the Medicare program, and for other purposes.

See section 7 of S. 1431 or HR. 4697 because they are basically identical.

This Bill basically controls what beneficiaries of Medicare Part D get if they have been identified as possible addicts and have a PDP Sponsor.

Tell your legislators “NO” to S.1431.
