Synthetic Drug Awareness Act of 2016

Purpose: to require the Surgeon General to report on the effects of the increased use of synthetic drugs on public health.
SEC. 2. Report on effects on public health of synthetic drug use.
Within three years of the date of this Act, the Surgeon General shall submit to Congress a report on the effects on public health of the increase since January 2010 in the rate of use of synthetic drugs in the United States by individuals 12-18 years of age.
A “synthetic drug” is a drug which is developed and manufactured to avoid control under the Controlled Substances Act.
