AG Sessions calls it “the largest health care fraud takedown” in history. Charging innocent physicians with fraud is the DOJ plan to support their burgeoning agency costs.
This attack involves 165 medical professionals including 76 doctors, 23 pharmacists, and 19 nurses. 162 of these defendants were charged with prescribing opioids. Thirty states were involved. Also as a result of the government attack, 2700 professionals have been excluded from Medicare and Medicaid, which includes 587 providers excluded because of opioid prescriptions.
As usual, the government works on setting the propaganda stage making doctors look greedy: “In many cases, doctors, nurses, and pharmacists take advantage of people suffering from drug addiction in order to line their pockets,” Sessions said,
“The perpetrators really are despicable and greedy people,” DHHS Secretary Alex M. Azar III, said.
Really? So now they are going after nurses with “they’re in it for the money?” Maybe people will start to understand that that statement isn’t true of doctors or pharmacists either. They do what is required by their knowledge and training. It’s the government that is in it for the money.
Government agents who need to lose their jobs over this illegal activity include AG Sessions, Secretary Azar, Asst. AG John Cronan, FBI Deputy Director David L. Bowdich DEA Asst. Admin. John Martin HHS Deputy IG Gary Cantrell, IRS Deputy Chief Eric Hylton, CMS Deputy Administrator Alec Alexander and DCIS Director Dermot F. O’Reilly and any other agency perpetrators, which Sessions attributed to be around 1,000 individuals.
The charges targeted providers for billing Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, and private insurance companies (usually Blue Cross/Blue Shield who is in cahoots with the government to criminalize their providers) for “medically unnecessary prescription drugs and compounded medications” and opioids. But thanks to the government attacks like this against good, innocent professionals, now, in their own admission, approximately 115 Americans die every day of an opioid-related overdose.
Sessions brags about hiring more prosecutors and leveraging the power of data analytics. In other words, they use the PMP to target doctors. This attack is the largest ever charged in a single operation. And with the laws being considered in Congress, they are making attacks like this easier.
DEA Assistant Administrator Martin lied through his teeth when he said “DEA will continue to work to protect our citizens while ensuring that patients have adequate access to these critical medications.”
“It takes a special kind of person to prey on the sick and vulnerable” said Deputy Chief Hylton.
Yes, it surely does. And the agents involved in these schemes to rob innocent medical providers of their income to fund their own salaries and bonuses are such people. They point the finger, saying “Greed”, but three fingers are pointing back at themselves.
The Medicare Fraud Strike Force operates in 10 locations nationwide. Since its inception in March 2007, it has charged over 3,700 defendants and stolen back $14 billion of those defendant’s lawfully acquired income. THAT is the definition of greed.
