We mourn the loss of a warrior for Justice. With heavy heart we say goodbye to her and promise that we will commit ourselves to keep working on the path she charted.  I know, if you are familiar with our work with AUI (American United International) and Dr. Z, that you are shocked about this announcement.  The circumstances of her death are suspicious. She had received credible death threats but she was not afraid to follow her conscience. She may have paid the ultimate price for her convictions. We must proceed to keep her spirit alive and build on her work to truly honor her. Dr. Z was an amazing woman, lawyer, and advocate for human rights. Before I talk about my personal feelings, let me give you a brief look into her work.

Dr. Crenshaw-Logal graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1981 distinguished as a National Merit, Notre Dame, and Indiana State Scholar with a dual major in English and Philosophy.  She then graduated in 1984 from Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago, Illinois, distinguished as an Earl Warren Scholar. Her early legal work was a general, civil law practice which primarily consisted of her prosecuting complex, personal injury claims, and advising small to medium, for profit as well as nonprofit entities.  She began working full time as a legal reform activist in 1998.

In 2004 she cofounded the nonprofit legal reform organization National Judicial Conduct and Disability Law Project, Inc. (NJCDLP) with her husband, Rodney A. Logal, and Dr. Andrew D. Jackson. NJCDLP was a product derived from escalating persecution of its co-founders. When the effort began, their primary focus was on validating the thousands of Americans subjected to serial violations of their federal rights under color of law, including but not limited to court action.  “Describing their experiences as persecution if not torture would help establish that related trauma was not self-imposed or reflective of some character deficiency on the part of those tortured.” In 2010, the focus shifted on corruption, spearheading the submission to the United Nations of a Joint Stakeholders’ Universal Periodic Review of human rights in the U.S.

Amazingly, concerns addressed by that report persisted and as a result of their advocacy, the Logals became targets, not only financially but by judicial rulings contrived to position the Logals for criminal prosecution. Given the Logals were essential benefactors of aggressive, sound measures to curb that abuse, any government threat to their liberty and well-being was counter-intuitive, suspicious, and could be part of a template for repression and oppression through U.S. legal system abuse.  Of course persecution and torture through U.S. legal system abuse are not reserved for only professional legal reform/anti-corruption activists, and that is what AUI is trying to combat through the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) signed 30 years ago.

Quote by Harry TrumanIn 2016 NJCDLP began publishing white papers on a national pattern of persistent U.S. legal system abuse facilitated by unchecked judicial misconduct. NJCDLP dubbed the phenomenon “The Third Degree” and equated it with the weaponization of America’s legal system against U.S. government critics, whistleblowers, political prisoners, and many other vulnerable populations including innocent children as well as senior citizens. “This is deliberate persecution tantamount to psychological torture in too many instances, directly victimizing millions of people in America on an intergenerational basis” said Dr. Z.

Among other things, the ICCPR mandates effective redress for human rights violations under color of law, i.e., committed by rogue agents of government. Dr. Zena Crenshaw-Logal, contends it is “presently undisputed that America is and for decades has been violating that provision with regard to unethical judges, justices, and quasi-judicial officials.”

On her Facebook page she identified herself as an author, public speaker, and human rights and public policy analysist/advocate. She listed her multitudinous associations she is a part of:

Brown Vindicators, Council of Organizations (, a close affiliate of the United Nations Association of the U.S.A. (UNA-USA) as well as the United Nations Foundation.), Louisiana United International, Inc. (alias LUI), Rod Logal Center for Justice, Opt-IN-USA / America United International (alias AUI), The Law Project, NationSwell, NJCDLP

Lambs that will not be sacrificed

Dr. Crenshaw-Logal recently published a book denouncing persecution and psychological torture imposed through the weaponization of the U.S. legal system to commemorate the victims, survivors, Torture Awareness month 2022, and the 30th anniversary of America’s International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) which she claims the U.S. is violating.

Lambs that will not be sacrificed” is the story of millions of people including both average Americans and noncitizen U.S. residents. “Ironically, reading our story benefits the reader as much as us, the metaphorical lambs that will not be sacrificed.” “It is a truth with which the whole world should be bombarded. Impunity flourishes when we turn our heads away from such critically important, albeit troubling concerns.”

All net proceeds from its sales will be used to help support America United International (AUI). AUI is the leading campaign for “persecution victims lawfully evoking U.S. compliance with its International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights”.

My Personal Reflection.

Dr. Z was an amazing woman and lawyer.  I’ve only known two moral lawyers in my lifetime. The first was a divorce lawyer in San Antonio, Texas and Dr. Z is the second. My overall opinion of the legal profession is that it is the most corrupt, money-worshipping, immoral and unethical profession existing, and the jokes about lawyers are more truth than fiction. But Dr. Z was an exception. She saw the corruption and knew that it was her responsibility not to ignore it, but do something about it. She wasn’t going to just ride the gravy train like all the other lawyers do.

She knew she was a target, and had actual evidence of that. She spoke occasionally about the fact that the work we were doing put us in jeopardy of losing our life.  But that didn’t stop her. In fact, on the day she died, she was working on a paper to present in a case she was fighting for, and she finished it. I can’t speak to the evidence of the cause of her death, but it is suspicious. Should that scare people off from the work that needs to be done?  I hope not. I hope we have enough strong people in this country that despite the threats, know that the work must continue. Dr. Z was prepared for any eventuality, and AUI is designed to continue its work. The main thing is that we get a message to the government that they can take us out, but that the work will continue.

I was already aware of the mysterious deaths of advocates of natural medicine and activities that I now espouse, and that I am a potential government target. In fact, I joke with people that I must not be a threat because I’m still breathing.  I’ve established direction for my work in case my life should suddenly end, so the work will continue. One thing everyone should understand is that it isn’t the years in our life that are important, but the life in our years. Dr. Z is an example of that.  Blessings to you, Dr. Z, and may you now be enjoying heaven with your husband. You will live in our heart and in our memory. They may have silenced your voice but we will become your voice. Your work will continue until the day your goal is realized.
