Doc Myers’ personal fight ended September 7, 2018 as he left this earth and joined his heavenly Father in heaven. This is a brief tribute to his efforts in support of Chronic Pain Patients across the country.
The New York Times says, “There aren’t many doctors like Ronald Myers, a jazz-playing, Baptist-preaching family practitioner whose dream has always been to practice medicine in the kind of place most other doctors wouldn’t even stop for a tank of gas.” (1/12/90)
A 1985 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Medical School and residency in Family Practice at L.S.U. Medical Center, Doc Myers was a leading national advocate for health care to the poor and disenfranchised. In 1990 he became the first ordained and commissioned medical missionary to serve in America’s poorest region, the Mississippi Delta, in the history of the African American church. Dr. Myers provided health care to the poorest Americans through clinics in Tchula, Belzoni, Yazoo City, Indianola, Greenville and Tupelo, Mississippi. He went on missions outreach to Kenya and Israel.

Rev. Ronald V. Myers, Sr., MD was a family practitioner in Mississippi. He lost his license because of attacks on him by the state of Oklahoma. The charges were dropped, but his license was never restored to active status because of fines levied on him by the Board of Medicine for the unfounded investigation they led against him. In other words, “Pay us for attacking you without just cause.”
Dr. Myers’ family includes his wife, Sylvia, 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Pain Patient Advocacy Week
Doc Myers led his last Pain Patient Advocacy Week in Washington, DC on April 23-30, 2018. He wasn’t feeling up to par when he came to Washington, but he used all the energy he had to lead the movement. Possibly because of that self-sacrifice, he did not have the reserves when he returned home, and his health deteriorated over the next few months. He is truly a martyr to the cause, and Chronic Pain Patients should lift him up forever for the support he gave.
You can listen to his interview from Pain Patient Advocacy Week in 2017 HERE:

A victim of prosecutorial misconduct and outright law-breaking of the government agencies DEA, DHHS, and DOJ, she hopes to be a part of exonerating all doctors illegally attacked through the Controlled Substance Act. I’m so very sad I’ve known “Doc” for years and I’ve been a huge supporter the tears roll down my cheeks, a huge wonderful individual has left us all, you will be truly missed by many Rest easy Doc your job is done. Thank you for all you have done for mankind you made a difference. Always, Laura
Doctor Myers was a friend, nation and world leader. His spirit will always be with us. God blesses “Doc” and his wonderful family.
Rev. Doctor Ronald V. Myers Sr., was a legend and a friend to many.
I would like to first extend my condolences to Doctor Myers wife, Sylvia, and his beautiful children whom he loved and enjoyed. I first met Doc several years ago after I had reached out time him after being attacked by the State Medical Boards by corrupt police officers posing as investigators.
Dr. Myers always led by example and I had the opportunity of a life time to work side-by-side and try to right wrongful conduct and hold corrupt government officials accountable. We played like we were government enforcement officers all the time. When he would answer the phone, he would say, “Hi this is Special Agent Myers,” and I would reply, “How are you doing Agent Myers – this is Officer Earley.”
Dr. Myers was an incredible human being and he was a very loving and gentle person. He dedicated years and years of his life to the Juneteeth Holiday Celebration and he pushed hard to make Juneteenth a National Holiday. Dr. Myers had hope that President Donald Trump would sign Juneteenth into law. Most people do not realize that Dr. Myers was ousted from the office of the former President Barack Obama, after he tried to get the Obama Administration to pass the Juneteenth as a National Holiday. This would never happen under the Obama Administration and they called the Capitol Police on Dr. Myers and his group and threatened jail if he did not get out of their office. Dr. Myers strongly believed the President Donald Trump would sign the bill into legislation, I too, share this belief.
Dr. Myers was a pillar and a role model for the American Black community and his Medical License was taken without just cause and because he was Black. We stood side-by-side on the front-lines and we protested together in front of the Department of Justice and at the Medical Boards.
Dr. Myers, the founder of Black Doctors Matter and the American Pain Institute is a legend and a beacon of truth, life, and internal power and love. Dr. Myers had hope that one day he would get his license back to do what he loved most and God answered his final wish because his license was restored by God and his Heavenly Father. For no man can challenge the throne of God and internal life that he gives and takes.
My Blessings and Love to the Family of a man that truly represented what God put us on Earth to do.

Doctor Meyer’s was a great prayer warrior. He truly believed and worked in motivating pain patients and their providers to educate our government on truths, praying they would believe pain patients are not addicts. He pulled a group of us medical providers that were discriminated and lied about by the government, and gave us hope for justice and truth. He will be missed, as a great leader filled with compassion and hope.

My older privatetreating dr of 17 yrs was charged by Phila DEA in 2016. I’ve tried to get a copy of my medical records from the dr and DEA since 2016. Both refuse to reply. I’ve since lost my Medicaid and my only income ($780. Mo.) I’ve had problems with us mail constantly never being told in person at local ss Office in 2017 or by us mail. I have no phone service . I don’t see away to fight for myself any longer.
That’s why people like Doc do the work for you. Hang in there. We WILL win this battle. People just have to learn what will make the difference, fire their current legislator, make the new legislators know that they have to do their job, and pass the word on to everyone they know.
