Election 2022
The CPP Community Dropped the Ball in 2020
Not pointing fingers, but the chance to create change in the pain management world went up in smoke with the lack of effective replacement of the incumbent federal legislature. Even with the legislators writing the bills against opioids, none were replaced. Instead, like Susan Collins, they state that their re-election shows their work in Washington is supported by the citizens. So by reelecting most of the incumbents, that is the message the CPP community has sent–keep up the good work against opioids!
A lot of work went into our attempt to help people choose the right legislator. Starting in 2019, we sponsored webinars to work on the election. The attendance dwindled to 2 people, so we quit. Then we worked on the questionnaire to send to prosective candidates. We ended up with 4 volunteers for that work. As a result of the amount of work that went into this, with no result, we have learned a lesson and will not repeat this mistake in 2022.
If anyone is interested in trying this again, we will be happy to publicize and support your work, but we will not lead it or do most of it like we did this election. Our attention now will be focused in a different direction. We are a firm believer in the definition of insanity: Repeating the same action expecting a different result. Nope! Not going to do that!
