Dr. Rajendra Bothra, MD, 77, is the owner and one of six doctors at two clinics in Warren and Eastpoint, Michigan, being unbelievably charged with fraud because patients have to come back for a chronic condition. This goes to show the frank handing over the controls stick to the DOJ to do whatever they please against innocent citizens with no fear of responsibility.
The government is trying to create crime if a doctor orders appropriate tests or equipment for chronic pain conditions by coming back afterward and stating they were medically unnecessary, ineligible for reimbursement, and therefore fraud. This is becoming the routine charge now against any doctor who takes government insurance. They are trying to offset the country’s $985 billion debt by confiscating all the payments made to doctors for the last 5 years. So doctors taking care of government insured or Blue Cross Blue Shield, take note: You are treating these patients for free and you will lose your business through bankruptcy when the government charges and fines you to get their money back.
Dr. Bothra was a 30-year practicing surgeon who, as a Fellow in the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, has been doing interventional pain management exclusively for the last 5 years with expertise in epidural blocks, facet blocks, radiofrequency rhizotomy, and spinal cord stimulation implants, to name a few. The government, through Pub. Law 115-271, is even trying to get doctors to do more of these procedures by providing higher compensation. Is that just a trick to put more doctors in prison for asset forfeiture? Quite possibly. Doctors—BEWARE!!
Dr. Bothra is personally charged with 12 counts of aiding and abetting health care fraud for 12 claims between 2013 and 2018. Here are the claims he is being charged with:
Please note that they charge what the doctor claims, not what the insurance pays–which is a lot less. So they actually claim back money that they never even paid–making money on these charges.
He is also charged with three counts of aiding and abetting the unlawful distribution of controlled substances for prescribing simple hydrocodone to two patients. One received 90 doses and another received 210 total doses on 2 visits, all under prescribing limits and authority. What? Prescribing opioids? Guess what! They are a pain clinic! Lindsay Powell had a hard time understanding how the prosecutors could come up with fake crimes against Enron and Arthur Andersen in her book Licensed to Lie. But, Ms. Powell, this takes the cake.
Now how does this translate into real language? Basically patients come to an office with chronic pain which the doctor diagnoses through appropriate tests, and then treats. Per the law, patients have to return for refills of their pain medicines. To justify ongoing treatment and again, follow the laws, necessary tests to support the diagnosis and treatment are ordered. And when the claims are paid, the doctors receive their salaries which they take home to use as they personally need. I think this is called routine medical care in this country. If the return of a patient for chronic care is criminal, then every medical practice from pediatrics to geriatrics needs to watch out, because you could be next.
The phrasing of the charges is exactly like what the government did against Enron and Arthur Andersen in 2000. America, wake up. Take away immunity from these law-breaking prosecutors, and send a bunch of them to jail.
Here is the scary thing. Take a look at the actual law that is being adulterated to create these false charges:
18 U.S.C. § 1347 – Health care fraud
(a) Whoever knowingly and willfully executes, or attempts to execute, a scheme or artifice–
(1) to defraud any health care benefit program; or
(2) to obtain, by means of false or fraudulent pretenses, representations, or promises, any of the money or property owned by, or under the custody or control of, any health care benefit program, in connection with the delivery of or payment for health care benefits, items, or services, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both. If the violation results in serious bodily injury (as defined in section 1365 of this title), such person shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both; and if the violation results in death, such person shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both.(b) With respect to violations of this section, a person need not have actual knowledge of this section or specific intent to commit a violation of this section.
So the government is turning this vague law against any physician or clinic that is independent from the REAL fraudulent hospital-owned groups who are literally told to order every test possible, to fund the government coffers and give the DOJ job security. And statute (b) is really scary when it says there is no such thing as mens rea anymore in our justice system. In other words, you can be charged criminally for something you don’t even know is criminal or have the intent of doing something criminal.
Doctors—as of this date, every doctor in the country needs to separate themselves from government insurance and Blue Cross Blue Shield. If not, you WILL be a target eventually. We need to stand together with this, as a boycott. Medical associations need to jump on this and join together as one to bring this to a halt.
It is also interesting that the government claims that the doctor’s scheme involved getting patients hooked on pain pills and then forcing them to undergo painful procedures if they wanted more. As personally contested by a former patient of this clinic who contacted me, most of the patients seen at this clinic came to them already on pain medication prescribed by former doctors. But, of course, by perpetrating the numbers and false statements in their indictment which then gets spread by the cooperating media, they achieve their goal of tampering with the potential jury pool.

Addendum:
Dr. Bothra was acquitted in June, 2022. But then the government attacked him again through the false claims act and he had to agree to a remuneration to avoid that trial. After spending 43 months in prison before his acquital, this just shows the chutzpah of the government.

I have failed in my mission to end these attacks on doctors and pain patients. Through John Bevere’s book The Bait of Satan, I have figured out why—my lack of forgiveness to those who attacked me. As in Mark 11: 24-26:
“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.”
And when you do not do the will of the Father, you are estranged from him and he will ignore you. So we all must forgive the agents who attacked us in order for things to be made right through any of our works.
Jesus said
“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”
But we cannot lay down our lives for God unless we know Him well enough to trust Him. We must have the assurance that He would never do anything to harm us. He always looks out for what He knows is in our best interest. As a nation, those of us suffering from these attacks must understand that we are serving as God’s messengers of love. We must forgive those who persecute us and love them instead, following God’s will for us. Then and only then will we see fruits from our labor.
So I hope that everyone who has suffered from what happened to the doctor can trust the Lord, forgive those who have hurt you, and help bring this country back to the God-fearing country that our forefathers founded. Then, and only then, can you be a part of the effort to stop these attacks. I look forward to that day.

I’ve known Dr. Bothra since I was very young. He was my doctor when he was a General Practician and treated the entire family. Most of the people in my neighborhood went to Dr. Bothra. He saved my mom’s life and helped us so much. When he went into just treating pain, we were devastated that he would no longer be our doctor. We have never found another doctor like Dr. Bothra and we know we never will. Even though our mom died in 2017 we still gave Dr. Bothra a present of all kinds of candy/cakes other goodies during Christmas. There is no one as kind/good/compassinate/smart as Dr. Bothra and the thought of him being in prison for something he did not do, is beyond comprehension. It makes me sick to my stomach to know he is being attacked like this and has spent so much time in prison when all people are supposed to get a speedy trial. I believe it is a true crime to do what they are doing to Dr. Bothra and so do so many of our neighbors who we’ve been in contact with once again since this has happened. You have the wrong man and there is no one as compassionate as Dr. Bothra. He hated to see anyone in pain and did all he could to stop their pain. By the time these people go to the pain clinic, many are already hooked on pain killers from their doctors who just don’t know what else to do to stop their horrific pain. Dr. Bothra wouldn’t even prescribe more antibiotics to me and the rest of my family than we needed even when we would ask him for them when we had a bit of our colds, sore throats, etc., left over. He was always right that we had enough antibiotics and the rest would go away on it’s own. We wouldn’t even ask Dr. Bothra for pain meds or any kind of pills to take away our pain whether it be mental or physical. He was so against it. One time when my dad left my mom, I couldn’t stand what was going on in the house so I asked for some valium. He said that I needed to get over it without drugs. He said drugs would just prolong he mental pain, and it would be better not to cover up the mental pain. He was right and he is the best doctor we’ve ever had. There is no one like him. HE IS WONDERFUL. Out of all the horrific things that have happened during my lifetime, Dr. Bothra going to prison and staying in there before he has even been convicted of anything, is really the true crime. This is unbelievable and we can’t understand why nothing has been done before this to get him out of jail!
The war will continue because of the propaganda the government has used that people refuse to offset with the truth. I spent countless hrs in ER rooms for couple years after a deer motorcycle accident. Dr Russo started treating me and got my life back to normal. He strived to see me any day I called that same day. He never pushed any opioids on me in fact I had to beg for some through a bad week of pain. These Doctors are miracle workers to people in this condition. Shame everyone involved in this witch-hunt!!!!
Let me get this straight. You are actually telling all doctors to stop treating patients, especially disabled people, the elderly and chronically sick children and veterans in order to avoid losing money IINSTEAD of banding together in any other fashion such as protesting at the House of Reps or flooding emails of senators. I have a HUGE problem with this! And I will not be the only one!
No, I’m not telling doctors to stop treating patients. I’m SUGGESTING that there is a better way to run health care than under government and insurance control. We need to get the doctor/patient relationship back, where the doctor works for the patient, not the hospital or what he will get paid better for through insurance. We have lost our total health in this country since the invention of insurance. For example, doctors can make independent agreements with patients for various levels of care. I did this with my patients because I didn’t accept insurance. For under $1000 per year, I took care of anything a patient needed with unlimited diseases. If a patient was healthy, it was under $300 per year. People are paying $300 per month for insurance, and the doctor doesn’t even see it. CUT OUT THE MIDDLE MAN! And stop these attacks on doctors!
Also, where do you get the idea that my statement about boycotting government insurance has anything to do with money? That shows prejudice on your part. Shame on you. It would be to save lives, save families, save careers, and rebuild what we have lost over the last 70 years.
But the problem is, it won’t happen. This is pie in the sky. Doctors are too naïve and too egotistical to band together to fight any of this. Medical Associations won’t even work together on it. They will all think that doctors that are charged are actually guilty of something–until it happens to them, and then it will be too late.
So don’t get your drawers tied up in a knot. I knew when I posted that that I would get comments like this, and I hope I’ve responded to anyone even thinking it.
Cost of healthcare is so high that your ‘Netflix’ subscription model will simply not work. How will the hospitalization, diagnostic tests like MRI, ultrasound, mammograms, surgeries etc. be paid under your subscription model?
Cost of healthcare is high BECAUSE of insurance. And I don’t know what you mean by a “Netflix” subscription. Patients can still have insurance, they simply get reimbursed themselves and not the doctor. If the doctor is not involved in insurance, he can use sliding scales, have free or reduced care for the uninsured poor for example. Tests are done usually by hospitals, which can continue working with insurance, except that since they are the most fraudulent, the government will probably start going after them for all the unnecessary costs.
The information in this article is misleading. There are pain clinics that are not part of schemes that are run in a legit medically helpful fashion, see people as individuals. Then there are pain clinics that have a set number of things that they do for everyone, including MRIs, Spinal Blocks, Trigger Points, … and prescribe medications no questions asked. They do not tailor their treatment to fit “the injury”, they treat to keep treating, they promote unnecessary equipment, medication, and procedures to fit their own needs. A waiting room full of “doped of people” barely keeping their eyes open BEFORE their appointment, seen for 5 minutes, walk out with a prescription and can get it filled right next door, so there are people sitting in both parking lots that are not able to drive or even walk to the places they need to get to.
They also have a ring of places that help them do this massage therapy that only lasts as long as auto or health insurance states it will cover, it is deemed necessary that entire time per the massage therapist and “prescribing doctor”. They have their own doctors they want you to go see for each speciality, including primary care so they can get on paper the diagnosis needed to keep treating. They have lawyers for the clients/patients available if needed for those that have medical claims through auto/work.
And most of the clinics you point a finger at here are hospital-owned clinics that are in it for the money. Surprisingly, though, the government is starting to attack these clinics for Medicare fraud. It’s about time.

I do not think we should blame AG Garland for what the DOJ is doing. He is simply a product of the propaganda like everyone else. Being Jewish with a family history of the holocaust, I feel that as soon as he recognizes that the war on drugs is simply propaganda to target minorities like Hitler did, he would be on our side. But I’m just a one-man band, and I can’t do it all alone. But the truth that he needs to learn is on Doctorsofcourage. It is the population of CPPs and those attacked chasing rabbits and not getting to what will make a difference that needs to change.
Sorry, Norman, but your header that thousands of convicted doctors/healthcare providers must be released from prison is a bit of an overreach on reality. They will probably stay in prison until each case is remanded, and that will take time and money. If you know the secret how to get them all released, please let me know.
