Continuing my review of past posts, here is an update on the practitioners I wrote about in 2018. The sad fact is that only one of these practitioners (Dr. Jay Joshi) is active in the fight. I don’t know how the rest expect this to end if they don’t step forward and help.

Released  (10)

Masoud Bamdad, MD was at a halfway house with a release date of 1/1/2030. But his current FBOP status says he escaped prison on 12/5/2022.  So I guess he left the halfway house and didn’t return.

Manuel C. Barit, MD pleaded guilty in January, 2019. He permanently surrendered his license and paid restitution. No prison sentence.

Margaret Easley, NP pleaded guilty in Oct, 2019 and was sentenced to 1 year probation.

Jeri Ellis, MD was attacked by the Oklahoma BOM. Her license expired in 2018.

Jay Kaushik Joshi, MD was released from prison on 6/26/2020

Shriharsh L. Pole, MD was released from prison on 1/13/22

Devendra I. Patel, MD was released from prison on 5/28/22

Steven Holper, MD was released from prison on 9/1/2022

Nkanga Nkanga, MD was released from prison on 1/9/23

Jeremy Thomas, DO should be released from prison

Robert Rand, MD is still incarcerated with a release date of 11/4/2024

Frederick W. Floyd, DO is at a halfway house with a release date of 1/10/2025

Carl K. Anderson, MD is still incarcerated with a release date of 8/19/25

Lawrence T. Choy, MD is still incarcerated with a possible release date of 9/7/2025

Frank C. Purpera, MD is still incarcerated with a release date of 12/2/2025

Richard Stehl, MD is still incarcerated with a release date of 12/11/2025

Afzal Beemath, MD is still incarcerated with a release date of 4/8/27.

Cindy Louise Hyche Dunn, owner is still incarcerated with a release date of 8/20/27. Her husband Thomas Mason Dunn was released on 1/14/2022

Gilberto Sanchez, MD is still incarcerated with a release date of 2/16/2027

Barry Michael Schultz, MD is still incarcerated with a release date of 9/20/2174

Acquitted or Dropped (9)

Rajendra Bothra, MD was acquitted in June, 2022. He was then charged with False Claims Act and agreed to paying restitution of $6.5 million to avoid another trial.

Ganiu Edu, MD was acquitted in June, 2022.

Christopher R. Russo, MD was acquitted in June, 2022

David Lewis, MD was acquitted in June, 2022.

Bruce Coplin, MD has not been attacked…yet.

Armando Falcon, MD was arrested in 2018.  Nothing has happened since and it appears he is still working.

Stuart Gitlow, MD’s office was raided in 2018. Nothing has happened since.

Ben Kuharich, DO  was attacked by the Washington State BOM, reprimanded and placed under supervision, but he is still practicing.

Mehdi Nikparvar-Fard, MD was indicted in 2019 and is still awaiting trial. He was incarcerated pre-trial until July, 2022.

Still Awaiting Imprisonment (3)

Ronald P. Kufner, MD pleaded guilty in Oct, 2021. He still awaits sentencing.

Eric Backos, MD pleaded guilty in March, 2023. Agreed to restitution and a prison gap of 57 months.  Has not yet been sentenced.

Ralph Thomas Reach, MD pleaded guilty in Mar, 2023.

Deceased (2)

James F. Graves, MD died in prison in September, 2020.

Larry Ley, MD  was acquitted in August, 2016. He died in December, 2022
